Leather Hard is a pottery calculator for the wheel. It gives you the wet inside measures to throw for a chosen volume, or the volume a wet piece will hold after firing.

How accurate are the measures?
They are geometric estimates for round, symmetrical pieces. Uneven walls, warping and your clay's real shrinkage can change the result, so test with your own clay and adjust.
Are the measures inside or outside?
Inside. Measure from inside wall to inside wall, while the clay is still wet. The app shows where to take each measure.
Which shrinkage should I use?
Use the total shrinkage your clay maker gives, from wet to fired. If you don't know it, test a bar of your clay: draw a 10 cm line when wet and measure it after the last firing.
Why is the volume lower than the brim?
Leather Hard leaves headspace: it fills to 90% of the inside height so the piece can be used without spilling. The "Measure a piece" mode also shows the volume full to the rim.
How do I change the language?
Tap EN or PT at the top of the app. It starts in your iPhone's language.

As medidas são precisas?
São estimativas geométricas para peças redondas e simétricas. Espessura irregular, deformação e a retração real da sua argila podem alterar o resultado, então teste com a sua argila e ajuste.
As medidas são internas ou externas?
Internas. Meça de uma parede interna à outra, com a argila ainda úmida. O app mostra onde medir cada uma.
Qual retração devo usar?
Use a retração total informada pelo fabricante da argila, da peça úmida até a queima final. Se não souber, teste uma placa da sua argila: risque uma linha de 10 cm úmida e meça depois da última queima.
Por que o volume é menor do que cheio até a borda?
O Leather Hard deixa uma folga: considera a peça cheia até 90% da altura interna, para usar sem derramar. O modo "Medir uma peça" também mostra o volume cheio até a borda.
